Pilates with Jacky from UNHQ
Joseph Pilates put emphasis on the mind-body connection, precise movements, and balanced whole-body health , aiming to develop the body uniformly and elevate the spirit. This was his philosophy of "Contrology". He maintained that physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness and he believed that it is the mind itself that builds the body, and that you are only as young as your spinal column. Most importantly he believed change happens through movement and movement heals.
Pilates exercises can be modified to suit the individual taking into account any fitness goals, challenges and limitations. These group classes are based on the Polestar Pilates "Principles of Movement" by Dr. Brent
D. Anderson: Breath, Mobility, Alignment, Control and Movement Integration.
These Pilates Mat classes are designed with a focus on office workers and intend for the participant to leave the class feeling energised and better than when they started. Throughout the class exercises can also be modified according to the needs of the participants. The classes will start with a focus on office workers but can be adapted further. All participants will be encouraged to listen to their body and take breaks whenever they need to. Props such as a stretchy band, ball, and weights can also be incorporated if participants wish.
Some feedback to date: "I feel much stronger" "my back pain has gone" "I feel so much better" "my clothes fit better".
The sessions take place on Tuesdays (see calendar) from 12:30-13:15 on Zoom via a link sent on Monday before. Please email globalpilatesamis@gmail.com each week by cob the Friday before class to receive the link. Each session will be open 10 minutes earlier for anyone that wants to join with any questions.
